Happy International Women’s Day 2014!

Annual Article

I’ve written an article to celebrate International Women’s Day, and you can read it over on Bernews – which is Bermuda’s premier female owned/run media outlet.

If you want to read some of my earlier posts on International Women’s Day please see the links below.  Much to my shame I somehow failed to write for the years 2009-2012 (largely when I was substantially less active in blogging).

Going Beyond Lip-Service

It’s important, of course, that we collectively do more than simply pay lip-service to the idea of International Women’s Day.

If we do that we render it meaningless.

International Women’s Day is important for helping us re-focus our attention to feminism and feminist struggle, and it should serve to remind us of that and re-commit to it.

Everyone who’s committed to social justice and building a better world should use this day to critically investigate their own actions and analaysis, from a feminist perspective, and to ensure they genuinely ‘practice what they preach’ regarding feminist struggle.
