Happy New Year & Rabbie’s 250th!

I’m not sure how frequent this occurs, I reckon its not all that unusual, but today, January 25th 2009, marks two significant cultural events for both sides of my family. It is both the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth and the Chinese New Year.

I’ve already had my Burns Supper, and tomorrow I’ll be enjoying reunion dinner with an adopted family of Chinese student diaspora. I understand that in addition to the traditional new year fare we’ll be attempting a blend of Burns Supper and reunion dinner with haggis dumplings. Makes one wonder if certain fusion cuisines are best not attempted…

Well, with all that said, Happy New Year!
