Mouseland – Courtesy of A Radical in Bermuda

I was just taking some time to read over comrade Rowland’s site, and came across this gem. I remember it well from my time studying in Canada, especially with the 1998 formation and organisation of the NDP Socialist Caucus.

As I wrote in the comments section of his site, this story is of direct relevance to our political situation, and perhaps is even more fitting for Bermuda with its added dynamic of race, which this story captures well, even if unintentionally.

Readers are advised to go to Rowlands site to read the story of Mouseland, but more information, especially regarding its origin and that of the NDP, can be found here at Wikipedia.

Here one can found an animated film of the story, narrated by Tommy Douglass himself, the first leader of the Canadian New Democratic Party.
