This visit should have been cancelled because of the recession. How much money was wasted on idolization of the colonial rich?
This money could have been used for welfare checks.
Dr. Brown missed another chance to uplift the poor.

As head of one of the largest (non unionised) construction companies, he is in a position to have serious conflicts such as acting as Minister of the Environment or Works and Engineering in the actual Minister’s absence. Wouldn’t he be allowed for example to review plans, proposed developments, costs etc of rival firms? Don’t repeat the well worn out “well the UBP did it”, now is 11 years on and it is time to be mature and if anything needs to be said it would be “the UBP did it and it was wrong. We shall not repeat those actions”. Otherwise why not just vote the UBP back in to continue the status quo?

If anyone who believes in democracy and truth has any doubts as to why PATI is required (not just in Bermuda) and be retroactive you should follow the enquiry into the background to the Iraq invasion presently taking place in the UK. The Daily Mail has very good reporting. Prior to invading, Tony Blair is advised in writing it is illegal, but covers up, withholding the information from Cabinet and only tells a few cronies (sound familiar?). This memo has just now been released to the enquiry and it will be interesting to see the repurcussions.
Governments have to be held accountable to act in the peoples’ collective interest, and not their own personal agenda, or to please some entity, in Blair’s case the USA.

Laverne – was Don Coleman at Howard? If not it shows the PLP is an equal opportunity giver of no bid/tender contracts that reward failure and incompetence with a harsh system of further contracts and unaccountable payments.
